Vijayawada: Health minister Satya Kumar Yadav has issued an open letter to former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, countering his claims on social media platform 'X' about the current NDA government's impact on the health sector.
Yadav highlighted a 250 per cent rise in malaria cases in 2023 compared to 2022 and criticised poor healthcare access in tribal areas, where people are forced to carry pregnant women and the sick on makeshift stretchers due to a lack of ambulances. He dismissed claims of increased spending under Aarogyasri, citing unpaid bills of Rs 2,000 crore to hospitals.
Yadav also pointed out shortages in medical staff, equipment, and infrastructure in government hospitals and criticised the naming of 17 new medical colleges after Jagan’s father, calling it a misuse of public funds. He assured that the NDA government is committed to correcting the health sector's mismanagement under the previous regime.
