AP issues ordinance for Vote on Account budget

Vijayawada: AP government issued an ordinance on the Vote on Account budget on Wednesday. The ordinance was published in the AP Gazette after getting approval from AP Governor Justice S. Abdul Nazeer.


The approval for the ordinance was taken online from the ministers concerned on Tuesday and then sent to the Governor for approval.

The Vote on Account budget limit set by the previous government is to end on Wednesday. The government has approved the Vote on Account budget ordinance for a period of four months.

The ordinance said the legislature of the state is not in the session now. The Governor of Andhra Pradesh is satisfied that circumstances exist which render it necessary for him to take immediate action on the ordinance. Therefore, in the exercise of powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 213 of the Constitution of India, the Governor has promulgated the Andhra Pradesh Appropriation (Vote-on- Account No.2) Ordinance, 2024.

With this, the state government may withdraw from the Consolidated Fund of the State of Andhra Pradesh sums not exceeding ₹1,29,972,97,89,000 (Rupees one lakh twenty-nine thousand nine hundred seventy-two crore, ninety-seven lakhs and eighty-nine thousand) being moneys required to meet various expenditures.

The sums authorised to be withdrawn from the Consolidated Fund of the State of Andhra Pradesh by the Ordinance, shall be appropriated for the services and purposes expressed in the Schedule in relation to the said year.
