Social activist J. Srinivasa Goud had filed a complaint with the Lokayukta, seeking compensation for Mallikarjuna's wife and children

Kurnool: Andhra Pradesh Lokayukta has directed that compensation be paid to the family of a person who died of an electric shock.
Veerla Mallikarjuna Swamy from Kankipadu in Krishna district had died on August 15, 2024, while repairing a motor on his farm in Punadipadu village.
Social activist J. Srinivasa Goud had filed a complaint with the Lokayukta, seeking compensation for Mallikarjuna's wife and children.
Following this, Chief General Manager (O&M) of APCPDCL in Vijayawada issued a memo on January 9, 2025, instructing their Accounts Officer to pay compensation of ₹5 lakh to the deceased's wife Balavarthini from the corpus fund, as directed by Upa Lokayukta P. Rajini.
Lokayukta registrar T. Venkateswara Reddy said many affected families, whose members die of electric shock, are unaware that they can seek compensation from the state-owned power companies. He said families that have not received compensation from power companies, such as APSPDCL, APCPDCL and APEPDCL, can write to the Lokayukta for help in securing compensation without any cost or involving intermediaries.
