AP Minister Atchannaidu Stresses Development of Manyam

Visakhapatnam: The water resources department shall complete pending works on the Janjhavathi, Thothapalli and other water projects and complete the Seethanagaram Bridge by March 2025, said agriculture minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu addressing the district review committee (DRC) meeting at the Manyam collectorate on Monday. He announced the sanctioning of an integrated soil testing lab and fishing hatchery for the district and the establishment of a district cooperative central bank (DCCB).

Addressing the meeting, the minister emphasised the government's commitment to developing Parvatipuram Manyam, a backward district with a 33 per cent tribal population. The minister highlighted several key initiatives, including improving road connectivity to unconnected villages, improving the health sector and addressing the anaemia problem in the district.

The minister emphasised the importance of providing drinking water to every household by tapping funds from the Sujaladhara scheme to permanently solve drinking water issues in the district. He directed the officials to identify the water sources and submit estimates for the four assembly constituencies. He also stressed the need to strengthen ITDAs and establish MSMEs based on locally available resources. He also ordered to prevent the encroachments on government lands and take stern action against violators.

Minister of women and child welfare and tribal welfare Gummidi Sandhya Rani highlighted the government's priorities in education, health, drinking water, irrigation and roads. District collector A. Shyam Prasad provided updates on the district's progress, including proposing six new PHCs and establishing container hospitals in remote villages.
