AP notifies fee for private engineering colleges offering B.Tech, B.Arch courses

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government has notified the fee structure for engineering programmes of B.Tech and B.Arch offered by the private un-aided professional higher education institutions for the Block Period 2023-26, subject to the outcome of writ appeals pending before the High Court.

A GO-Ms-17 issued here a day ago said the fee is an all-inclusive, including the annual fee, the tuition fee, the affiliation fee, the cost of identity card, the medical fee, the inter college/inter university sports, games and cultural meet fee, the computer/Internet fee, college magazine and student activities fee etc.

The fee fixation does not include hostel, transport, mess charges, registration fee, admission fee, refundable deposits of library and laboratory fee. This is a tentative measure till the finalisation of the fee by the AP higher education regulatory and monitoring commission, it said.

The institutions whose affiliation are not extended by the affiliating universities for the academic year 2024-25 are not entitled to collect any fee till the affiliation process is completed. In the case of new college/course, the fee structure shall be the least of the fee regulated for the institutions in the same programme or course for the academic year 2024-25.

The institutions are cautioned to maintain proper accounts and follow lawful practices including in the processing of payments and issue of receipts through banks. They should follow the regulations as well as guidelines of the commission in matters like submission of data for evaluation and regulation of fee proposals henceforth.

“In case of any deviation from these directions, the commission will initiate serious penal action as per the provisions of the Act and Rules. Under Section 12 (4) and (f) of the AP Higher Education Regulatory and Monitoring Commision Act, 2019, the Commission has the power to revise and determine the fee payable to the higher educational institutions and review the fee determined, whether notified or not by the government for any academic years/block periods, the GO said.

The institutions are informed that the fixation of fee structure by the government will not by itself enable or permit the management to run programmes, if the programmes are not recognised/permitted by the government/All India Council for Technical Education, PCI/UGC/NCTE and concerned university/any other statutory authority.

The fee structure for B.Tech programme fixed for the year 2024-25 under convener quota in the private un-aided professional higher educational institutions ranged from a minimum of Rs 40,000 to a maximum of Rs 1,05,000. There are 210 engineering colleges that are notified for the fee structure.

The fee structure for B.Arch programme fixed for 2024-25 under convenor quota is Rs 35,000. Only two colleges are notified and their fee structure is fixed at Rs 35,000 only.
