AP police detects two missing girls

Kakinada: The police claim to have identified the whereabouts of two girls who were missing from their home. Police said on Sunday that the accused Maroju Venkatesh, with whom the girls were visiting various places in recent days, would be arrested and brought to Rajamhendravaram along with the two girls on Monday.

According to South Zone DSP, Ambika Prasad, the girls’ mother had separated from her husband and shifted the family’s stay to Dowleswaram in East Godavari district from Berhampur in Odisha some eight years ago.

The daughters, aged 15 and 14, were studying at a college in Kakinada and staying in a hostel. They came to the Dowleswaram home in May for the summer vacations. Meanwhile, the family got close to Venkatesh, who claimed to be a TT with the Railways and took a house on rent in the vicinity.

Venkatesh took the two girls, their mother and some others to Araku in June and later to Tirupati and Vijayawada for pilgrimage. He later took the two girls to their hostel on July 22. However, the mother got to know that the girls did not reach the hostel. She made a police complaint.

East Godavari SP Narasimha Kishore led the investigations through several cities. His phone was last traced to Guntur area, police said, adding the arrests would be made soon.
