AP police intensifies search against YSRCP MLA Ramakrishna Reddy in EVM damage case
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh police intensified manhunt against the YSRCP MLA Pinneli Ramakrishna Reddy, who is facing a criminal case for destroying Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) in a polling booth at Palvai Gate, Macharla a few days ago, even as tense situation continued in the village.
The police already issued a lookout notice across all airports against Reddy to prevent him from escaping the country. Though there were rumours that Reddy was detained in Sangareddy in Telangana, the district police denied it. However, his gunmen and driver were reportedly taken into custody by the AP police.
The AP police formed special teams to trace Reddy against whom a case was booked under 10 various Sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other provisions of Representation of Peoples Act-1951.
On Wednesday, the Election Commission of India (ECI) took serious note of Reddy’s action destroying an EVM at Palvai Gate polling booth. It asked the Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Mukesh Kumar Meena to submit a detailed report explaining about the incident.
Meanwhile, Reddy’s action drew criticism from netizens who demanded stern action against him. The video in which Reddy was seen destroying EVM went viral on social media. “Hope @ECISVEEP will take cognisance of it,” a netizen said.
One more netizen demanded that re-polling must be conducted at the same polling booth.
