In July, rainfall was 14 per cent excess and in June 34 per cent excess, the report stated.
Of the total 26 districts in the state, Sri Sathyasai in Rayalaseema region recorded a large excess of 104 per cent rainfall. Six districts (Bapatla, Palnadu, Prakasam, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and YSR Kadapa) received normal rainfall. The remaining 19 districts in the state recorded excess rainfall.
Coastal Andhra Pradesh, comprising 18 districts and Yanam subdivision, recorded 22 per cent excess rainfall between June and August. The Yanam sub-division received 534.9 mm of rainfall against the normal rainfall of 438.4 mm during the period.
Rayalaseema subdivision (eight districts) in the state recorded 44 per cent excess rainfall from June to August. It received 391.4 mm of rain against the normal of 271.7 mm.
“Above normal rainfall over coastal Andhra Pradesh and normal to above normal rainfall is forecast over Rayalaseema region during September,” revealed Dr. S. Karuna Sagar, scientist at IMD-Amaravati.
