AP rising, records 8.22 per cent growth rate: CM

AP registered a GSDP of Rs 88,65,013 crore by posting a growth rate of 8.22 per cent over the last year at constant prices in 2024-25 and stood in the second position after Tamil Nadu among the states

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh “is rising” as it has registered a growth rate of 8.22 per cent at constant prices for the fiscal year 2024-25 and stood in the second position after Tamil Nadu in the country, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has said.

In a social media post on Sunday, he attributed this credit to the policies being adopted by the TD-led alliance government in the last nine months.
He said, “In less than a year of forming the government, our policies have moved AP from a state of distress to a state of growth and renewed confidence. This progress has been driven by a broad-based revival across agriculture, manufacturing and services alongside significant investments in IT, electronics, automobiles and renewable energy.”
“I congratulate my people of Andhra Pradesh for this collective achievement. Let us continue to build a brighter future together.”
The Union ministry of statistics and programme implementation has released the data on Gross State Domestic Product and Per Capita Income of 18 states/UTs.
Accordingly, AP registered a GSDP of Rs 88,65,013 crore by posting a growth rate of 8.22 per cent over the last year at constant prices in 2024-25 and stood in the second position after Tamil Nadu among the states.

Similarly, AP also registered a GSDP of 15,93,062 crore by posting a growth rate of 12.02 per cent over the last year at current prices and stood in the fifth position.

On sectoral performance at current prices, agriculture and allied sectors contributed a very impressive growth rate of 15.41 per cent, of which agriculture and horticulture posted healthy growth rates of 22.98 per cent and 21.29 per cent respectively. The low base during last year helped the agriculture sector to register a very high growth rate while horticulture has also become a prime contributor even to the overall growth of GSDP.

Industry sector with a growth performance of 6.41 per cent remained a little subdued. However, within this sector, the construction and manufacturing sectors showed a relatively better performance at 10.28 per cent and 5.80 per cent respectively. Service sector showed a growth rate of 11.82 per cent while other services like education, health etc registered 12.15 per cent; trade, hotels and restaurants at 11.58 per cent while real estate and dwellings registered a growth of 11.22 per cent by contributing their share for the GSDP growth.
As for Per Capita Income, AP has registered a growth rate of 11.89 per cent over last year at current prices. The PCI is Rs 2,66,240 and it stood in the third position in terms of growth rate among other states after Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
