AP seeks 1 lakh tonnes of red gram from centre

The AP minister further sought from Pralhad Joshi allocation of ₹532 crore from the price stabilisation fund to stabilise prices of essential commodities in Andhra Pradesh. In addition, Manohar requested for opening of eight new price reporting centres and release of pending ₹₹1,187 crore to the state, apart from approval for construction of 11 silo godowns

VIJAYAWADA: Civil supplies minister Nadendla Manohar met union minister for food and public distribution Pralhad Joshi and union minister for petroleum and natural gas Hardeep Singh Puri in Delhi on Thursday.

Manohar put before the union ministers several important issues related to Andhra Pradesh, including allocation of one lakh tonnes of red gram (toor dal) to fulfil the state’s requirement.

The AP minister further sought from Pralhad Joshi allocation of ₹532 crore from the price stabilisation fund to stabilise prices of essential commodities in Andhra Pradesh. In addition, Manohar requested for opening of eight new price reporting centres and release of pending ₹₹1,187 crore to the state, apart from approval for construction of 11 silo godowns.

It is said the union minister responded positively to all these issues and assured early action.

The AP minister then met the union minister for petroleum and natural gas and handed over to the latter a letter written by AP Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu to convert 60 lakh Deepam connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana scheme. It is stated Puri responded very positively and assured early action.

MPs from Ongole, Machilipatnam, Kakinada and Eluru and senior officials of the state accompanied the AP minister when he met Prahlad Joshi and Hardeep Puri.
