AP Sees Reduction in MMR from 130 to 97 per 1 Lakh Live Births: Satya Kumar

Satya Kumar Yadav stated that India was steadily moving towards achieving MMR 70 by 2030, fulfilling the SDGs under the visionary governance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Vijayawada: Health minister Satya Kumar Yadav said that Andhra Pradesh, along with other states, was witnessing remarkable progress in reducing maternal mortality and ensuring safe motherhood.

The minister said here on Saturday that the maternal mortality rate was reduced from 130 in 2014-16 to 97 in 2018-20 per 1,00,000 live births and added that eight states, including AP, Kerala, Maharashtra and Telangana, achieved the sustainable development goals’ target of MMR to be 70. He said that institutional deliveries increased to 89% in 2019-21 from 79% in 2015-16.

The minister stated that India was steadily moving towards achieving MMR 70 by 2030, fulfilling the SDGs under the visionary governance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
