Vijayawada: MSME Minister Kondapalli Srinivas said here on Wednesday that the state government signed two agreements to help women's self-help groups.
The Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) Andhra Pradesh signed an MoU with Kheti Tech Pvt Ltd and the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and SERP-AP signed the second MoU.
The signing was done in the presence of the minister Srinivas and he said that the NABARD-SERP-AP comprehensive agreement focuses on coordinating NABARD's cooperative development schemes. The objectives include capacity building, skill development, training to promote entrepreneurial activities and advancing women-centric development.
He said the key aim of the MoU is to align specific targets for development goals led by women, through the state Rural Livelihoods Mission.
SERP AP, he said, plans to implement various capacity-building, skill development, producer organisation formation, and agricultural capacity development programmes for women, in collaboration with district-level executives of the SRLM, under NABARD’s development schemes. The partnership enables SERP AP to secure financial assistance of ₹10.19 crore to facilitate business activities, training, rural tourism, and more for women.
The second MoU was signed between Kheti Tech and SERP-AP. Kheti Tech presented proposals aimed at encouraging protected agricultural practices. The goals outlined in their proposal include establishment of polyhouses, enhancing productivity in the designated unit area, promoting high-value horticultural crops under polyhouses, improving germination rates and hardening by promoting seeding materials, encouraging the cultivation of high-value vegetables under shade net houses, year-round production of flowers, crops, and fruits, particularly during the seasonal harvests and ensuring continuous production of disease-free and genetically superior seedlings.
The minister said that key benefits of shade nets include providing suitable light for crop growth by regulating sunlight exposure, reducing water waste effectively, preventing pests that harm crops to minimize pesticide utilization and ensuring adequate water and light for crops, leading to enhanced yields.
