AP SIPB Clears ₹2.01 Lakh Crore Investments; CM Chandrababu Stresses Time-Bound Grounding

Reliance, Adani among major investors; 39,000+ jobs expected as CM pushes for fast, transparent clearances

VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday approved investment proposals worth more than `2 lakh crore at the 17th State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) meeting chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

This paves the way for the start of several major projects in data centres, renewable energy, manufacturing and food processing sectors across the state. The meeting cleared 25 projects involving a total investment of `2,01,023 crore, which are expected to generate employment for 39,067 people.

Naidu said every investment proposal in the state should ultimately translate into grounded projects and industrial activity. Officials must ensure that all approvals, from clearances to foundation-laying ceremonies and commencement of production, are completed within stipulated timelines.

Among the marquee projects approved was Reliance Industries’ proposal to establish a massive data centre in Visakhapatnam with an investment of `1,08,010 crore. The project alone can create around 1,000 jobs and is being seen as a major boost to Andhra Pradesh’s ambitions of emerging as a technology and digital infrastructure hub.

Reliance Industries also secured approval for a large-scale solar power project along with a battery energy storage system in Sri Sathya Sai district, involving an investment of `51,300 crore. The project can provide employment to nearly 20,000 people.

Another major proposal approved by the SIPB was Adani Hydro Energy Eleven’s pumped storage project in Kadapa district with an investment of `12,297 crore, that could likely create 3,375 jobs.

In the manufacturing sector, Royal Enfield received clearance to establish a motorcycle manufacturing facility in Tirupati district with an investment of `2,508 crore, generating employment for around 3,000 people.

The CM made it clear that there should not be even a single day’s delay in granting permissions from the government side.

Andhra Pradesh, he said, should build a distinct “brand” in industrial approvals by demonstrating how the state offers faster and easier clearances compared to competing investment destinations.

He said, “We must post proactive officers who are keen on attracting investments in key approval-related positions.”

Naidu observed that Andhra Pradesh must differentiate itself in the highly competitive global investment landscape through efficiency and investor-friendly governance. Highlighting the importance of micro, small and medium enterprises, he said the government should accord equal importance to MSMEs alongside large industries.

He noted that MSMEs would play a crucial role in the One Family-One Entrepreneur initiative.

Naidu also emphasised the need to provide gas pipeline infrastructure to all industrial clusters. He said Andhra Pradesh has immense potential in the food processing sector. He underlined the importance of value addition for horticulture and commercial crops such as oil palm, mango, coconut and cocoa to enhance farmers’ incomes.

The energy sector dominated the approvals list with several renewable and bio-energy projects receiving clearances. Apart from Reliance and Adani projects, approvals were granted to green hydrogen, compressed biogas and biofuel units across multiple districts, including Tirupati, Eluru, East Godavari, Palnadu, NTR and Vizianagaram.

In the industrial sector, major approvals included Apollo Tyres’ `6,100 crore project at Sri City in Tirupati district, International Flavours & Fragrances’ `3,153 crore proposal in Nellore district, and Gridon Energy Limited’s `3,149 crore investment in Kurnool district.

The IT and advanced technology segment also saw significant developments with DRDO’s NSTL securing approval for the Amaravati Quantum Valley initiative.

Chief secretary Sai Prasad, ministers T.G. Bharat, K. Atchannaidu and V. Subhash, senior officials from various departments, and minister Payyavula Keshav.
