VISAKHAPATNAM, JUNE 13 Two sisters of Somannapalem village in Addathigala mandal of Alluri Sitaram Raju district drowned in a pond near their farmland on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Vanthala Kavyashree (13) and Sahithi (10). According to reports, the sisters had gone to the pond for performing puja when one of them accidentally slipped into the pond. The other sister tried to save her but she too fell into the pond. When villagers saw them drowning, they, along with the girls’ parents Rama Rao and Srilakshmi, rushed to the spot and pulled them out. They found Sahithi gasping for her breath while Kavyashree had already died. Sahithi parents rushed her to the Addathigala Government Hospital, but she too died on the way. D. Kottur police have registered a case.
