AP to Get Seven New Airports, Says Aviation Minister

Vijayawada: AP Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is on a two-day tour of Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as other union ministers.

On Saturday, the CM visited the Ministry of Civil Aviation, where union civil aviation minister Rammohan Naidu received him.

Rammohan Naidu later disclosed that AP will expand its airports’ network from currently seven to 14. He said the AP Chief Minister wanted an increase in the terminal capacity of airports enhancement works at Rajahmundry, Vijayawada and Kadapa.

The union minister said if land is provided, he would provide support on behalf of the union government in setting up new airports. He said Srikakulam, Dagadarthi, Kuppam and Nagarjunasagar are among places where new airports are being proposed.

Rammohan Naidu said he discussed with the AP Chief Minister the plan to convert Puttaparti airport into a government entity. He said Chandrababu Naidu wants AP to be a logistics hub. New airports will play a crucial role in this regard.
