AP: Usage of Drones for Delivery Flood Relief Receives Appreciation
Vijayawada: The use of drones to deliver food, water, and medicines to those stranded in flood-affected areas have been widely commended by stakeholders. According to state government sources, the deployment of this advanced technology, initiated under the guidance of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Lokesh, has significantly aided in rescuing and providing relief to nearly seven lakh individuals impacted by the floods.
Agriculture minister K. Atchannaidu facilitated the conversion of 115 agriculture drones to carry up to 10 kg payloads, enabling them to deliver essential supplies to 1.30 lakh people. This initiative was carried out with the support of Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University’s research director Dr. PV Satyanarayana, drone expert and senior scientist Dr. A. Sambaiah, and AP Drone Corporation MD Dinesh.
Also, Minister for HRD and Electronics Lokesh, along with water resources minister Nimmala Ramanaidu, employed three drone cameras to monitor the repair of breaches in the Budameru canal, aiming to control the flooding. A total of 17 drone cameras were used to assess flood conditions in affected areas. The drones also played a crucial role in spraying disinfectants to prevent disease outbreaks.
