AP Waqf Board Launches Free IIT-NEET Coaching Programme for Muslim Students

The initiative as a major educational support programme for economically weaker Muslim students

Nellore: The Andhra Pradesh State Waqf Board has launched ‘Taleem-e-Hunar’, a free residential education programme for meritorious Muslim students preparing for competitive examinations such as IIT-JEE, Neet and Eamcet.

The programme, announced in Vijayawada on Wednesday, will provide free Intermediate education along with coaching, hostel accommodation, food and study materials at institutions in Nellore, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.

Waqf Board chairman Shaik Haji Abdul Aziz said 250 students would be selected on merit for the 2026–27 academic year through a state-level talent test scheduled on May 17. He said the intake is expected to increase to 500 students from the next academic year.

The initiative has been launched under the guidance of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu with support from education and IT minister N. Lokesh and minorities welfare minister Nasyam Mohammed Farooq.

Abdul Aziz said 33 per cent of the seats have been reserved for girl students. Eligible candidates include students from Andhra Pradesh belonging to BPL and low-income families who secured 450 marks and above in SSC or 75 per cent and above in CBSE/ICSE examinations during the 2025–26 academic year.

He said the entrance test would be conducted in OMR format with 75 questions from Mathematics, Physics and Natural Sciences based on the Class 10 syllabus. Registrations opened on May 6 and will continue till May 12.

Describing the initiative as a major educational support programme for economically weaker Muslim students, Abdul Aziz appealed to parents and community leaders to create awareness about the scheme so that eligible students could benefit from it.
