AP weather shoots up by 6 degrees Celsius

Day temperature is continuing to rise in many parts of Andhra Pradesh, with average maximum temperature hovering around 35 degrees Celsius to 38 degrees Celsius.

Visakhapatnam:Day temperature is continuing to rise in many parts of Andhra Pradesh, with average maximum temperature hovering around 35 degrees Celsius to 38 degrees Celsius. On Tuesday, the temperature rose by 6.2 degrees Celsius in Nandigama, the highest in the state. The town registered a maximum temperature of 38.4 degrees Celsius.

Machilipatnam recorded 35.5 degrees, up by 6 degrees above the normal temperature. Narsapur reached 34.5 degrees, up by 5 degrees, and Tuni 35.4 degrees, up by 4.7 degrees Celsius. Kalingapatnam in Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam recorded the lowest temperature of 29.1 and 31 degrees Celsius respectively.

The IMD report said maximum temperatures are likely to be above normal by 2–4 degrees Celsius over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam during the next two days. Minimum temperature will also increase by two to three degrees Celsius in the same areas during the same period.

Lower tropospheric north easterly and easterly winds prevailing over Andhra Pradesh and Yanam are the cause for increase in temperatures, the IMD report added.
