AP’s Clean Energy Policy attracts Norway, BRICS investors: Gottipati

Vijayawada: Energy minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar on Friday asserted that the Andhra Pradesh Integrated Clean Energy Policy – 2024, providing a robust regulatory framework for clean energy investments, has gained international attention.

He disclosed that delegations from SAEL Solar, a leading Indian renewable energy company operating across 12 states in India, along with marquee investors from Norway and BRICS nations, held discussions with him and officials centred around potential investments in solar energy projects, waste-to-energy initiatives, and solar panel manufacturing in Andhra Pradesh.
The minister maintained that representatives of Norfund (Norwegian Sovereign Wealth Fund) and Development Finance Corporation (DFC) of the United States are enthusiastic about Andhra Pradesh’s energy policy framework. Both these entities are key investors in SAEL’s renewable energy projects. Norfund has channelled $60 million through its Norwegian Climate Investment Fund. DFC has contributed $35 million.
Ravi Kumar said SAEL is actively planning to develop 1,200 MW renewable energy capacity in Andhra Pradesh in two phases of 600 MW each. This underscores the state’s potential as a renewable energy hub.
He said: “Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Andhra Pradesh has emerged as a front-runner in clean energy innovation. The policy fosters an investment-friendly environment with balanced incentives, setting the stage for a clean energy revolution in the state.”
