APSSDC signs MoU with Infosys for Skill Census

Vijayawada: Education Minister Nara Lokesh has said the leading software company, Infosys, would take up a skill census programme in Andhra Pradesh. This is to improve the employment opportunities in the state and provide necessary technical assistance to youths.

Lokesh said, “For pre-certification of the skills of the candidates as part of the skill census, Infosys would provide a digital platform through generative Artificial Intelligence (AI).”

The state skill development corporation (APSSDC) signed an MoU with Infosys in the presence of Lokesh here on Friday.

Infosys has come forward to do the data pre-validation under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitment, Lokesh said, adding, “This will pave the way for easily imparting skill development training to the youths as per the market demand, after assessing their talents.”

The minister appreciated the efforts of Infosys in being “partners in providing 20 lakh jobs to the youth in AP in the next five years.” The representatives from Infosys, Santosh and Tirumala along with the state secretary to Skill Development, Kona Sashidhar, and other senior officials were present.

Lokesh said, “Infosys will connect aspirants on the springboard platform with curated pathways besides conducting free online courses and workshops to provide necessary technology to improve the youths’ skills. Infosys will provide the existing skills of the 3.59 cror people in the age group of 15-59 in the state after pre-validation.”

The company representatives said Infosys will connect students to the learning pathways as part of digital learning and create user-friendly interfaces to facilitate continuous learning. Also, it will cooperate with the APSDC to meet the growing needs of the industry besides providing free learning opportunities to the aspirants, improving technology and maintenance of digital platforms.

This, they said, will facilitate the integration of the digital platform in the skill census framework and skill application currently being undertaken by the AP government. It will also provide necessary support for implementation of assessment tools in educational institutions.
