BJP Alleges Corruption by YSRC at Tirumala Temple, Calls for Investigation

Tirupati: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state spokesperson P. Bhanuprakash Reddy has criticised the former YSRC government, accusing them of turning the Tirumala temple into a hub of corruption during their five-year rule.

Speaking to the media after visiting the Tirumala temple on Friday, Reddy alleged corruption in ticket sales, accommodation allotment, and engineering works and expressed concerns that devotees now doubt the safety of Lord Venkateswara’s ornaments. He demanded that the state government arrange for an inspection of the deity’s jewels by a sitting judge of the High Court to allay these fears.

The BJP leader announced plans to file a complaint with Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, calling for an investigation into the alleged corruption within the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). He criticised the TTD’s vigilance department for remaining inactive despite rampant corruption during the past five years.

Bhanuprakash also questioned the silence of TTD’s chief vigilance and security officer, demanding an explanation to the devotees on the corruption during the five-year rule of YSRC. He alleged that the TTD officials are not cooperating with the state vigilance department’s ongoing investigations into corruption allegations.
