BJP Alleges Massive Fraud in Sand Sales
Kakinada: The BJP’s Rajamahendravaram rural committee has alleged massive fraud in the sand distribution and urged district officials to streamline the supply from the Boat Men's Societies.
BJP OBC Morcha state president Rongala Gopi Srinivas and the party’s rural constituency president NVBN Achary submitted a representation to district revenue officer Sitharama Murthy in the grievance hall on Monday.
They alleged that sand is sold at higher prices at the Katheru Boat Society ramp, and the officials failed to supply the sand free of cost. The boat sand ramps have been given to a private contractor who is looting the consumers by collecting higher prices for sand, they alleged.
They said sand is not available free of cost and the distributors are collecting three times extra money in the name of agency expenses and political expenses.
During night times, the private agency is using heavy machinery to mine the sand and this would lead to damage to the fourth bridge on the Godavari river, the BJP alleged.
“Due to the higher prices for sand, the construction activity has been majorly hit and the construction workers are facing difficulties for their livelihood due to lack of work. The BJP would not keep silence if the situation continued,” it was warned.
