BJP MLC Proposes Road Links to Polavaram Project
BJP MLC also proposed construction of a road from the Purushothapatnam pumphouse to Ramadurgam temple

KAKINADA: BJP MLC Somu Veerraju has urged Polavaram project authorities to develop road connectivity across the Godavari river basin to improve transport and ensure safety during floods.
He submitted a representation to the chief engineer of the Polavaram Irrigation Project, seeking construction of a road from Dowleswaram to Seethanagaram to facilitate smoother transport and support agricultural activities.
Veerraju also proposed construction of a road from the Purushothapatnam pumphouse to Ramadurgam temple, for which estimates have already been prepared by the Roads and Buildings department at a cost of ₹16 crore.
He said improved road connectivity in the region would promote tourism, eco-tourism and medical tourism, while also generating employment opportunities for local people.
He added that strengthening infrastructure, particularly connecting rural areas with urban centres, should remain a key priority for the government.
