Visakhapatnam: Former chief minister and YSRC president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday announced former minister Botsa Satyanarayana as the party's candidate for local bodies MLC election from Visakhapatnam.
YS Jagan convened a meeting with the erstwhile district party leaders before announcing the candidature of Satyanarayana.
A notification for the by-election will be released on August 6. Candidates can file their nominations until August 13, and the nominations will be scrutinized on August 14. Nomination withdrawal can be done until August 16. Polling will take place on August 30 from 8 am to 4 pm, and the counting of votes will be carried out on September 3.
The by-election has been necessitated due to the disqualification of MLC Vamshi Krishna Srinivas under the anti-defection law.
