Briefs From Kurnool: KIMS Doctors Clear Blood Clot From Intestine

Kurnool: A 74-year-old woman from Kurnool, with diabetes and hypertension, faced a life-threatening condition when a blood clot blocked the artery supplying her small intestine, causing 50 centimetres of it to become necrotic. Initially treated at a private hospital, she was later shifted to KIMS Hospital in Kurnool. Consultant Surgical Gastroenterologist Dr Sura Janakiram performed a two-stage surgery, removing the necrotic portion and creating a stoma. Interventional Radiologist Dr Ashok Reddy administered thrombolytic agents to dissolve the blood clots. Six weeks later, her intestine was successfully reconnected, restoring normal bowel function. The patient has fully recovered, resuming a normal diet and lifestyle. Dr Janakiram highlighted the critical role of advanced medical care at KIMS in the success of this complex procedure.

Doctors stage protest in Kurnool

Junior doctors and PG doctors held a massive rally in Kurnool on Saturday to protest against the rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata. Hundreds gathered at Raj Vihar Junction, boycotting OP duties at GGH, with some private hospitals also suspending services. The SFI and AIDWA District Committees supported the protests, calling for stringent laws to prevent violence against women and ensure strict enforcement. They also demanded comprehensive protection for the victim's family in Kolkata and severe punishment for the perpetrators.

Interstate thief held, Rs 40 Lakh worth property recovered

Prakasam District Police arrested Palivela Prabhu Kumar, an interstate thief, from Rajahmundry, recovering stolen property worth Rs. 40 lakh. Kumar, involved in thefts across various districts, admitted to a burglary in Ongole where gold ornaments, Rs 1,80,000 in cash, and a Hero Glamour motorcycle were stolen. Ongole Town Police registered a case under Cr. No. 117/2024. District SP A.R. Damodar commended the investigation team, awarding them certificates and cash rewards for their success.

Man dies in road mishap

A road accident between Gonegandla and Ganjahalli villages claimed the life of 35-year-old Boya Dagarayya on Saturday when a private school bus collided with his two-wheeler. Locals allege that the high speed of the bus was the primary cause. Dagarayya leaves behind two sons and a daughter. The Gonegandla police have registered a case and are investigating.
