CM seeks Google Cloud manufacturing unit in AP
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu held talks with top executives of renowned companies, Google Cloud, Petronas and PepsiCo, seeking investment in Andhra Pradesh.
VIJAYAWADA: In continuing efforts in Davos, visiting Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu held talks with top executives of renowned companies, Google Cloud, Petronas and PepsiCo, seeking investment in Andhra Pradesh.
In a meeting with Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian, Naidu proposed the start of its design centre in Visakhapatnam. He urged Kurian to set up a manufacturing unit in the state that would link with Google Cloud's server supply chain.
An official release here said, “The Chief Minister urged the Google Cloud CEO to set up a manufacturing unit in AP to integrate its server supply chain, so as to make the state its hub for services in server maintenance.

Naidu highlighted the state’s strategic advantages for global investments. He has been meeting heads/ representatives of top multinational corporations from across the globe and showcasing AP as an ideal destination for cutting-edge technology, green energy, and infrastructure projects, the official release said.
Google Cloud, the third-largest cloud provider globally, has established two cloud regions in Delhi and Mumbai. It recently signed an MoU with the AP government to set up its 'Data City' in Visakhapatnam and Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications while fostering skill development opportunities for local youth.
Naidu held discussions with Muhammad Taufik, president and the Group CEO of Petronas, a leading Malaysian oil and gas company. Petronas has plans to invest in India spanning fields like green hydrogen, green molicylous and green ammonia. Its target is to generate five million tonnes of green ammonia annually by 2030.
The company is exploring the possibility of investing around `15,000 crore in green hydrogen and ammonia plants in Kakinada. Naidu invited Petronas to expand further by investing in Mulapeta, which is emerging as a petrochemical hub, and the proposed Global Capability Centre in the state.
During a meeting with the CEO of PepsiCo International Beverages, Eugene Willemsen, and the PepsiCo Foundation chairman Stephen Kehoe, Naidu proposed making Visakhapatnam its Global Delivery Centre and the city its Digital Hub. He also told them to expand their Global Business Services Centre to Visakhapatnam.
The Chief Minister proposed PepsiCo to be a partner with the Andhra Pradesh Community Natural Farming (APCNF) initiative to benefit local farmers through its supply chain. He suggested setting up a Kurkure manufacturing unit in the state to enhance industrial growth and provide employment opportunities to the youth.
Naidu also met a representative from the Bahrain Prime Minister’s office, Hamad Al Mahmeed, and the CEO of Mumtalakat, Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Khalifa. Informing them about the progressive industrial policies brought in by the AP government, he sought investments by emphasizing the state’s efficiency in facilitating businesses.
Andhra Pradesh continues to attract global attention as a hub for innovation, sustainability and economic growth, Naidu told the Bahrain officials. The state’s “proactive governance and investor-friendly policies ensure seamless integration for businesses aiming at growing globally,” he said and invited them to the state to be partners in the Speed of Doing Business, the release added.
