Naidu criticises Rushikonda constructions

Accompanied by a group of NDA leaders, the chief minister visited the sea-facing empty palace for the first time today and surveyed it

Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep regret over the previous government's environmental destruction and extravagant constructions in Rushikonda.

Inspecting buildings constructed by the YSRC government, Naidu, along with ministers and MLAs, underlined that public funds had been misused for personal luxury.

Speaking to media, the Chief Minister said, "Something that no one could have imagined has happened. The buildings here have seen what a person does for a luxurious life. Heart-breaking truths are coming out. In the past, no matter how hard the media and others tried, they did not know what YSRC had been doing at Rushikonda. The NGT, the High Court, and central government got deceived. My friend Pawan Kalyan and I tried to come here, but we were stopped,” he pointed out.

Commenting on the luxury at the buildings, Chandrababu Naidu said, "A person has done these things for his selfishness. It is unimaginable that such luxurious buildings are being built. It is outrageous to build such buildings with public money. They spent ₹36 lakh for a bathtub. Fancy fans have been installed. I have never seen such chandeliers anywhere. Marbles have been brought from abroad. I have seen many leaders, but no one has built such palaces,” he remarked.

The CM recalled that the previous government did not allocate ₹400 crore for a road project, while building such structures. “We will show these buildings to everyone. I don't understand what they are to be used for,” he commented.

During his visit to Anakapalli, Chandrababu Naidu announced that by Sankranti, all roads will be pothole-free. `860 crore have been allocated for road repairs across the state. He said drones will be used to monitor the road quality.

The Chief Minister said within five years, every street will have a cement road. He pointed out that national highway projects worth ₹76,000 crore will be completed within two and a half years. Additional projects costing ₹1.25 lakh crore will be built in the next five years, he stated.

On the day, Chandrababu Naidu held a review meeting with ministers and officials on developmental projects taken up in Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli and Alluri Sitarama Raju districts.
