Several police cases were registered at various areas in the state on Friday in connection with the alleged morphing of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s photographs related to Kumbh Mela.

Vijayawada:Several police cases were registered at various areas in the state on Friday in connection with the alleged morphing of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s photographs related to Kumbh Mela.

Based on complaints filed by Jana Sena leaders and activists, police initiated action against individuals accused of posting objectionable morphed images on social media.

According to reports, police cases were registered in Tirupati, Chittoor, Nellore, Bapatla, and Vijayawada for derogatory comments on Pawan Kalyan while in Narasaraopet, a case was filed for morphed and objectionable content. Vijayawada cybercrime inspector Guna Ram said that four cases were registered for body shaming and objectionable comments online.

Pawan Kalyan had recently visited the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj with his wife Anna, son Akira Nandan, and director Trivikram Srinivas. Their visit, including ritualistic holy dips, went viral on social media. However, some users allegedly morphed these images, leading to body shaming and derogatory remarks, sparking widespread criticism.

Jana Sena activists condemned the misuse of these images and filed multiple police complaints. The police intensified their probe, tracking social media accounts used for posting and spreading the manipulated images.
