CFL wants ACB to probe Jagan in Adani bribe scam

VIJAYAWADA: Centre for Liberty (CFL) founder Nallamothu Chakravarthy has filed a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) seeking a probe against former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, following allegations that the Adani Group offered a bribe of ₹1,750 crore to Jagan.

In addition to the ex-CM, CFL also wanted an inquiry into Gautam Adani – chairman of Adani Group, N. Srikanth – former energy secretary, Balineni Srinivasa Reddy – former energy minister and other persons that ACB may come across during the course of its investigation.

Recalling reports published in this regard, Chakravarthy pointed out that while AP government and its power distribution companies agreed to purchase electricity at the rate of ₹ 2.42/kWh from Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), Gujarat government signed a similar agreement around the same time at a significantly lower rate of ₹1.99/kWh.

The CFL founder said this, coupled with the complaint filed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in a U.S. district court, made it clear that Adani had bribed the then CM Jagan Mohan Reddy to secure favourable terms for the solar power deal.
