Christmas Celebrations Across Rayalaseema and Tirupati Marked by Joy and Devotion

Tirupati and Kurnool: Christmas celebrations across Tirupati, Nellore, Kurnool, and Nandyal districts were filled with festive cheer, devotion, and community spirit on Wednesday, with people from all walks of life coming together to celebrate the occasion.

In Tirupati, churches were adorned with colourful lights and decorations, creating a vibrant atmosphere. Midnight mass services attracted large crowds, with people from various faiths joining in the celebrations. Prominent churches, including Jaganmata Cathedral, West Church, and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, were packed with worshippers. The ringing of church bells signalled the start of Christmas festivities, and mass services included prayers and cultural programmes. The city was alight with festive energy as sweets and cakes were shared among the devotees.

In Nellore, Christmas celebrations were also marked by religious fervour. Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Dr. Ponguru Narayana participated in the service at the Roman Catholic Church Bishop's House in Kapadipalem, offering prayers and cutting a ceremonial Christmas cake. Churches across Nellore, such as St. Anthony Church, Vianney Home, and the American Baptist Church, hosted cultural performances and religious discourses emphasising peace and goodwill. Residents exchanged festive greetings, spreading joy among families and communities.

In the Rayalaseema region, Kurnool and Nandyal districts were filled with the sounds of hymns and the spirit of celebration. Churches were decorated with electric lights and ornaments, and special prayers were held at midnight. In Bethamcherla town, a rally featuring a holy cross was organised. Children dressed as Santa Claus added to the festive atmosphere, while sweets and cakes were shared among the congregation. Kadapa city and surrounding areas, including Proddatur, Jammalamadugu, and Badvelu, also witnessed grand celebrations, with churches such as Mariapuram Church hosting special prayers led by Bishop Galibali.

The entire region resonated with the joy of Christmas, bringing communities together in reverence, celebration, and festive cheer.
