Anantapur:A cigarette trader died by suicide at an isolated location near Dharmaraju Gudi in Chittoor on Saturday. Sources identified the deceased as Hari, a well-known cigarette trader from Chittoor town. Hari drove alone to the Tenebanda Dharmaraju Gudi area and parked his car. He later called his driver, informing him of his intention to end his life at the parking area near Tenebanda Dharmaraju Gudi.
Shocked by his employer’s call, the driver immediately alerted Two Town Inspector Nettikantaiah, who rushed to the scene. However, by the time police arrived, Hari had already succumbed to severe burn injuries.
Police suspect that the trader's suicide was driven by mounting debts, which he was unable to repay. A case has been registered based on a complaint by Hari’s family, and police are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding areas.
