40 teams from 18 states to compete in AP’s first night-turf hockey event from Feb 15–28.
Kakinada: The All India Civil Services Hockey Tournament -2024-25 will be conducted here from February 15 to 28. The Kakinada district administration has made all arrangements for smooth conduct of the event.
Matches will be played day and night on the hockey turf in Kakinada, the first such infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh. Players have booked rooms online while the district sports officials will arrange players’ transport to the venue.
The district sports development authority officer, B. Srinivasa Kumar, said that 40 teams comprising 538 men and 205 women from 18 states and two Union Territories would take part in the tournament. Seventy coaches and managers will be present.
He said that men and women's teams from Telangana, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, New Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh would participate.
A medical camp has been set up at the sports grounds to attend to medical emergencies, he said, adding galleries have been arranged for the audience to watch the games.
