Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed the APSRTC authorities to ensure hassle-free travel for the people going to their home villages to celebrate the Sankranti festival.
Following reports of a large number of people waiting at the RTC bus stations to catch buses and reach their destinations, and the bus stations swelling with surging crowds of people, the CM took stock of the developments and directed the RTC authorities to make proper arrangements to avoid any trouble to the people.
Meanwhile, DGP and managing director of APSRTC, Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, held a video conference with the RTC bus depot managers and district SPs across the state and directed them to ensure that the people going to their home villages on the eve of the Sankranti festival should not face any trouble. He also called for initiating all requisite measures to ensure that the people reach their destinations.
Earlier, there were reports of a shortage of buses causing trouble to people at the RTC bus stations. However, the RTC authorities handled the situation and helped people to catch the buses and go to their home villages.
