CM Naidu reviews crop damages due to untimely rains

The officials also informed the Chief Minister that they have personally inspected the field situations regarding the crop damages due to untimely rains and severe winds

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has enquired with Agriculture Minister Atchannaidu, District Collector and agricultural officials regarding untimely rains and the suicide attempts by two banana farmers in Neelampalli, Yellanur Mandal of Anantapur district. The Chief Minister gathered information about the situation following the incident where the farmers attempted suicide due to crop losses caused by untimely and torrential rains. Reports indicate that the health conditions of the two farmers have improved and that they are out of immediate danger.

The officials informed the Chief Minister that arrangements are being made to shift the farmers to Anantapur for better medical treatment. The Chief Minister learned that crop losses due to heavy rains have occurred in 40 villages across 10 mandals in the Kadapa, Anantapur, Sathya Sai, and Prakasam districts. They reported that horticultural crops covering 1,670 hectares belonging to 1,364 farmers were affected.

The officials also informed the Chief Minister that they have personally inspected the field situations regarding the crop damages due to untimely rains and severe winds. In light of the alarming situation, the Chief Minister directed that assistance be extended to the affected farmers. He assured that the government would support farmers who have suffered losses and urged them not to panic.
