CM Naidu Vows to Develop AP in 5 Years

Naidu said, “We have released Rs 990 crore and another Rs 1,100 crore would be released for development of the villages in addition to the funds coming from the Centre under the employment guarantee scheme.”

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has vowed to develop the state in the next five years, in response to the huge mandate the people gave his alliance in the recent elections. Naidu was addressing the grama sabha in Vanapalli village of Kothapeta mandal in the Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema district on Friday.

The CM stated that he was happy with the decision taken by him and deputy CM Pawan Kalyan to simultaneously conduct gram sabhas in 13,220 villages in the state on a single day. “These are being held in a festive environment,” he said.

Quoting Article 243-A of the Indian Constitution, the CM said the people in the village would come up with their wish list on the works to be taken up in each village on a priority basis. Naidu said, “We aim to ensure justice to the poor.”

The CM said that under Mahatma Gandhi rural employment scheme, AP has been sanctioned Rs 4,500 crore by the Centre to take up 87 kinds of works this year. “Nine crore mandays are to be created by providing work to 54 lakh families. We would seek and get more funds under the scheme if needed,” he said.

Naidu alleged that the YSR Congress government failed to take up such works and even diverted the funds meant for the job scheme for other purposes. He asked the people, “Was there any gram sabha in the state in the last five years,” he asked the people in another taunt on the YSRC rule.

He said the YSRC government had manipulated the local body elections.

Naidu said, “We have released Rs 990 crore and another Rs 1,100 crore would be released for development of the villages in addition to the funds coming from the Centre under the employment guarantee scheme.”

He said, “We would lay cement roads to a distance of 17,500km and construct a cement drainage network through 10,000km in the next five years. He promised to provide a house, a house site, power connection, water tap, toilet, and domestic gas connection to the poor families in the state, as promised. “These are apart from developing cement roads, laying drainage lines, installation of street lights, PHCs, veterinary hospitals and other amenities in the villages.”

“The present government started with a debt burden of Rs 10 lakh crore left behind by the previous rulers, and there was no money in the state coffers to pay even the wages/pensions to the government staff.

He recalled how the TD-led government’s decisions on Mega DSC to fill up 16,347 posts, abolition of AP Land Titling Act and hike in social security pension would benefit the people and said by September the remaining Anna Canteens would be functional.

The CM said the government aimed to facilitate nature farming in 50 lakh acres to benefit 20 lakh farmers.

He said the free sand policy would be launched on Sept. 11. “We would complete the Polavaram irrigation project by taking up the new D-wall at a cost of Rs 990 crore, to provide water for three crops in Godavari districts and drinking water to the entire state.”

Earlier, Naidu prayed before the deity Pallalamma and offered special puja at the temple in Vanapalli village.
