“We gained immense knowledge and learned about the different currencies used by small and large nations and their face value against the Indian rupee. This will also help those preparing for competitive exams,” said Jaswanth of Venkatagiri, a job aspirant.
Rambabu, another visitor at the expo, said, “This event was eagerly awaited as such an exhibition was not held in the city for the past nine years.” Rambabu is an artist by profession and has a penchant for coin collection, a hobby he developed since childhood.
“So far, I have collected four bags of Indian coins of all denominations worth `15 lakh. I regularly visit coin exhibitions wherever they are organised, purchase rare coins and add them to my collection.”
Numismatists from various parts of the country came and set up stalls displaying rare princely state coins, Republic of India coins, as well as Indian paper money ranging from `1 to `2,000 denominations since Independence, including the demonetised currency notes.
