Concrete plans for city development: Bharath
Municipal Commissioner S. Ravindra Babu acknowledged that many areas in Kurnool city suffer due to the absence of proper drainage canals, making desilting work challenging for sanitation workers

Kurnool: To enhance basic facilities in every colony of Kurnool city, Industries and Commerce Minister T.G. Bharath announced that the coalition government is implementing comprehensive development plans. On Sunday, Minister Bharath and Municipal Commissioner S. Ravindra Babu laid the foundation stone for projects worth Rs.2.42 crore across five local divisions.
As part of the initiative, facilities will be constructed at the Muslim cemetery in Kothapet (Ward 50) at a cost of Rs.20 lakh, while a drainage canal from Hazira College to Vasavi College in Ward 2 will be developed for Rs.35 lakh. Additionally, Rs.62.40 lakh has been allocated for installing canals in Dabara Colony and KVR Gardens in Ward 12. A canal will also be constructed in Lakshmi Nagar (Ward 24) at a cost of Rs.75 lakh, and Rs.50 lakh has been earmarked for the development of canals in various colonies of Ward 23.
During the event, Minister Bharath stated that since the coalition government assumed office eight months ago, steps have been taken to resolve issues raised by corporators and residents. He assured that all these projects would be completed within three months and emphasised that concerns in other departments are also being addressed as a priority.
Highlighting the state's progress, he noted that Andhra Pradesh has attracted investments worth Rs.6.50 lakh crore under Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership, with significant investment directed towards Kurnool district. He also pointed out that 85% of potholes across the state have been repaired by the NDA government, and a second phase of road restoration will commence soon.
Municipal Commissioner S. Ravindra Babu acknowledged that many areas in Kurnool city suffer due to the absence of proper drainage canals, making desilting work challenging for sanitation workers. He assured that new canals are being constructed in each ward based on priority and that all works will be completed within 40 days to three months without delay.
Following the event, the minister and officials toured several colonies, interacted with locals, and directed officials to take immediate steps to address their concerns.
