Congress insulted Ambedkar by not allowing him to enter the Parliament: Purandeswari

She said that it was the BJP which honoured both Ambedkar and the Constitution

BJP state president Daggubati Purandeswari charged the Congress with insulting the Father of Constitution BR Ambedkar. The Congress defeated Ambedkar twice in the Parliament and caused agony to him by not allowing him to enter into the House.

She was speaking to the media in Rajahmundry.

She said that it was the BJP which honoured both Ambedkar and the Constitution.

She reminded that the announcement on conferring the highest civilian award in the country , Bharat Ratna on Ambedkar was done during former prime minister Vajpayee's rule.

In 1989, when the Janata Dal government was formed under VP Singh, Bharat Ratna was conferred on Dr Ambedkar in 1990. The BJP supported the government from outside until its president LK Advani was arrested in Samastipur on September 24, 1990.

More than 25 lakh people had taken BJP membership in the state, she said.

On the stampede at Sandhya theatre, she said the investigation is still continuing. It should have been better if more security was provided at the theatre to avoid the tragic incident, she added.
