Kakinada:A contractor Suravaram Diwanam of Pithapuram created a flutter at the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) programme held by Kakinada district collector S. Shanmohan on Monday.
The contractor submitted a representation to district collector, urging him to sanction ₹1.60 lakh towards the works he had completed. Shanmohan responded saying his bills will be cleared once the state government releases the funds.
However, the Pithapuram municipal commissioner informed that an objection had been raised against the contractor’s bills and these need to be clarified.
This led to the contractor getting angry, saying he has been going around offices for sanction of his payments for past seven months. But his payment has not been forthcoming. Some TD and YSRC leaders have promised to get his bills settled provided he pays 5–10 per cent commission to them. The contractor went on to use some un-parliamentary words.
Police intervened and took him away.
Later, contractor Diwanam told Deccan Chronicle that he had been mocked by Jana Sena activists while he had been trying to get his bills cleared at the grievance cell meeting. The mocking made him angry and he ended up using un-parliamentary words against the JS members.
