CPI (Maoist) PPCM, sympathizer held while setting landmines in forest in AP’s Mallampeta village
Vijayawada: A platform party committee member (PPCM) of CPI (Maoist) and a sympathizer were arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police on Saturday while setting landmines in forest areas to kill security forces
The Alluri Sitharama Raju district police said the arrested persons have been identified as Sodi Baman alias Deval, 23, a CPI (Maoist) PPCM 4th Platoon, B-Section Commander, Konta AC of South Bastar Division and Jaddi Nageswara Rao, 25, a CPI(Maoist) sympathizer and native of Chinturu Mandal Alluri Sitharama Raju district.
As part of their operation to prevent Maoists activities, the State special party police, personnel of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the bomb squad were carrying out combing in the forest area of Mallampeta village outskirts at Pegapanchayat in Chinturu mandal in the district.
During combing operation, the police nabbed Deval when he along with the sympathizer were setting landmines in the forest area to kill security forces, who conduct combing operations in the area. After examining the bag of Deval, a pressure cooker bomb, two grenades, wires and a small battery was found.
Following instructions from district SP Tuhin Sinha, Rampachodavaram Additional SP (Operations) K.V. Maheshwara Reddy said strict action would be taken against anyone who collaborates with the banned Maoist party and commits anti-social activities. He said if there is any information related to Maoists then the public should inform the police.
