CPM Demands Support for Rain-Affected Farmers
Kurnool:CPM state committee member Prabhakar Reddy has called on the government to provide assistance to farmers who have lost their crops due to heavy rains over the past week. At a meeting of district-level leaders held at the local CPM office in Nandyal on Wednesday, he demanded compensation for the affected farmers.
Reddy urged the release of disaster relief funds to support those impacted by damage to the Ramakalva and Telugu Ganga canals in Nandyal district. He highlighted that repeated flooding turns the town into mud and swamps, with waterlogged roads exacerbating the situation.
Reddy also called for the construction of protective walls along the Ramakalva, Kundu River, and Maddileru Rivers, and stressed the need for urgent improvements to the underground drainage system. CPM district secretary Ramesh Kumar, along with district committee members Nagaraju, Yesuratnam, and other leaders, attended the meeting.
