CS Urges Swift Land Acquisition for National Highways

Vijayawada: Chief secretary K. Vijayanand has directed the district and joint collectors and officials of the concerned departments to complete the necessary land acquisition for national highway projects in the state.

On Tuesday, he held a video conference with the district collectors and JCs from the Secretariat, along with officials of the revenue, forest, TR&B, and national highways authority of India (NHAI), and the ministry of road transport and highways departments.

The CS reviewed pending issues related to the construction and expansion of highways, including land acquisition, forest clearances, and necessary permissions for bypass roads.

He further clarified that compensation to farmers should be provided as per land acquisition rules, and all necessary clearances should be processed promptly. The chief secretary stressed the importance of coordination among various departments to address pending issues effectively.

The video conference included contributions from CCLA G. Jayalakshmi, TR&B principal secretary Kantilal Dande, additional PCCF Rahul Pandey, NHAI regional officer RK Singh, and ministry of road transport and highways regional officer Rakesh Kumar. Collectors and JCs from various districts participated virtually, marking a significant step toward resolving delays in key infrastructure projects.
