Vijayawada: The SRM University-AP National Level Sports Fest, UDGAM 2025, was inaugurated in the presence of former Olympian and president of the Indian Olympic Association, Padma Shri P T Usha. The three-day event commenced with the lighting of the Olympic torch.
UDGAM 2025 will host over 40 competitions, with participation from more than 2,000 students and a prize pool exceeding ₹10 lakh. The event also honoured sporting legends such as Jessie Raj, retired army officer Varra Prasad Reddy, and APAA general secretary Akula Hyma.
Addressing the gathering, P T Usha emphasised the transformative power of sports. “Sports shape character through discipline, persistence, and resilience, instilling the spirit of never giving up,” she said.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Manoj K Arora called UDGAM the university’s signature sports fest, aimed at nurturing future champions. Participants from prestigious institutions like VIT-AP, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Vignan University, and K L University are competing in various events, including team sports, e-sports, and track and field competitions for both men and women.
