Denduluru MLA Seeks Change in NH Design (DC File Photo)
Kakinada: Chintamaneni Prabhakar MLA has urged the government and the National Highways Authority to change the design of the road passing through Denduluru in Eluru district, to curb the recurring accidents.
In a review meeting held at Eluru on the NH, roads and buildings, and revenue departments, Prabhakar said the NH from Hanuman Junction to Gundugolanu through Pedapdu, Pedavegi, and Denduluru mandals was not being built as per the set guidelines.
He also said the drains, service roads, etc have not been laid properly. In many places, the levels of roads varied on the NH due to poor quality work.
As there was no construction of culverts and drains yet, the rainwater did not flow out properly and there were many accidents. Officials must rectify the flaws, he said.
Joint collector Lavanya Veni said officials should sort out the 16 issues raised by the MLA within 10 days and submit a report. Prabhakar said the government was paying `24 lakh per month to the contractor for the NH maintenance, but the results were not impressive.
