Depression Over AP Moves to S. Odisha, Chhattisgarh

Visakhapatnam: The depression in Bay of Bengal that led to heavy rains over coastal Andhra Pradesh during the last four days, has moved over South Odisha and adjoining South Chhattisgarh.

It lay centred over South Odisha and adjoining South Chhattisgarh about 40 km south of Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh), 50 km north-northeast of Malkangiri (Odisha), 170 km northwest of Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), 220 km west of Kalingapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) and 280 km east of Ramagundam (Telangana).

It is likely to move west-northwest-wards across South Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha and weaken into a well-marked low pressure area during the next 24 hours.

IMD Amaravati has forecast thunderstorms for north and south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema for the next two days.

During the last 24 hours at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Amravati received 26.1 cm of rainfall, followed by Tiruvur 25.7cm, Guntur 22.5 cm, Kukunoor 20 cm, Atchampet 19 cm, Tenali 17.8 cm, Mangalagiri 17.3 cm, Nandigama 17.2 cm and Piduguralla 17.1 cm.
