Doctors Remove 5 cm Brain Tumour in Rare Surgery
An MRI scan confirmed it as tentorial meningioma, located in a complex region surrounded by critical blood vessels, making removal highly challenging.

Anantapur: A 58-year-old woman suffering from a massive brain tumour (over 5 cm) has found relief after a complex surgery performed by doctors at KIMS Saveera Hospital, Anantapur. She had been experiencing severe headaches, dizziness, and difficulty walking for the past year. Following the successful procedure, she has fully recovered.
KIMS Saveera’s consultant neurosurgeons, Dr Anil and Dr Murali, stated on Friday that Adinarayanamma, a resident of Pulivendula in Kadapa district, was diagnosed with a 5 cm tumour in the frontal region of her brain.
“An MRI scan confirmed it as tentorial meningioma, located in a complex region surrounded by critical blood vessels, making removal highly challenging,” the doctors explained.
With advanced neuro ICU facilities and state-of-the-art neurosurgical equipment, the team performed a high-risk, five-hour surgery, successfully extracting the deep-seated tumour. Post-surgery, the patient is free of symptoms, can walk normally, and has resumed daily activities.
This marks the first time such a large and complex tumour has been successfully removed in Anantapur district, the doctors noted.
