DSC Notification for Teachers Shortly After MLC Polls: Lokesh
Government Prioritizes Teacher Recruitment, Transparency, and Education Reforms

Vijayawada: Education minister Nara Lokesh has said the District Selection Committee (DSC) notification for teacher recruitment will be released immediately after the end of the MLC election code.
Speaking to the media, Lokesh emphasized the government's commitment to initiating the teacher recruitment process soon. This would begin in March and the process would be completed before the new academic year.
He emphasised that the Telugu Desam has historically led teacher recruitment, filling over 80 per cent of the vacancies in both united Andhra Pradesh and the new Andhra Pradesh. The government is constantly engaging with teachers’ associations. Every government policy related to education incorporates teachers’ feedback,” he stated.
The minister said, every Friday, the commissioner would interact with teachers. He announced plans to introduce a law to ensure transparency in teacher transfers. All matters would be discussed with teachers and decided.
He criticised the YSRC's protests over fee reimbursement dues. He accused the previous dispensation of leaving behind unpaid dues of Rs 3,000 crore. “Of this, we have already cleared payments of Rs 800 crore.”
The present government, he said, is settling all pending dues left behind by the YSRC government, including payments to farmers, employees and others. “The YSRC government created confusion in student and teacher data,” he alleged.
The minister announced the introduction of an Aadhaar-linked Apar Card system to accurately track student numbers. He said the government is planning to implement a mechanism to reduce school dropout rates in government schools.
On TD affairs, he said, “A new proposal has been introduced, aimed at promoting leadership growth within the TD. No leader should hold the same position for more than three terms, allowing for better mobility within party ranks.” This, he said, would help village-level leaders move to the mandal level, mandal leaders to constituency positions, and further up to the district level.
