DyCM Pawan Kalyan calls for social audit of funds in AP villages
VIJAYAWADA: Deputy chief minister K. Pawan Kalyan has ordered a social audit of funds used in villages across AP’s 26 districts and said the employment guarantee funds should reach the needy without any misuse.
He issued the order at a review meeting he held with officials of the social audit department of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme at his camp office here on Thursday.
The deputy CM is handling the departments of panchayat raj, rural development and forests. He expressed happiness over the allotment of these departments to him, saying, “These are areas of my interest.” This would also give him a chance to work for environmental protection, he said.
The deputy CM discussed in detail the process of social audit in the review meeting that lasted more than two hours. Officials explained to the minister the manner of social sudit for the employment guarantee scheme and how the misappropriation of funds, if any, is detected.
He stressed that the funds for the employment guarantee scheme should be utilised effectively. Officials would be held responsible for any violations and funds misuse.
