EC posts new DSP and CI to Tadipathri

Anantapur: The Election Commission has filled vacant posts in the police department in Tadipatri in this district on Monday. K. Janardhana Naidu was posted as DSP of Tadipatri sub-division.

Notably, Tadipatri DSP C.M. Gangaiah was suspended following his alleged failure to control law order during the poll day and the post poll violence in Tadipathri town where huge crowds of both TD and YSRC pelted stones and ransacked into rival leaders’ houses.

The EC also posted P. Nagendra Prasad as circle inspector of Tadipatri town as the town CI Murali Krishna was suspended for similar reasons.

Anantapur SP Amith Bardar was already suspended over his alleged failure to control the situation even though he was at the spot. Gowthami Shali, who was posted as SP of Anantapur, took charge on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the special investigation team has completed investigations into the violence on poll day and the next day in Tadipatri town. The team verified the FIRs and went through the cases registered by the town police in connection with the poll-related violence. Circle inspector Muralikrishna had also lodged complaints against party leaders after he suffered head injury due to stone-pelting at the police. However, Muralikrishna was suspended over his alleged lapses.

Central forces led by four DSPs continued to hold flag marches and arrange bandobast in Tadipatri town as part of the preventive measures. Additional forces will be posted at Tadipathri till the counting of the votes are over.

Already, several TD and YSRC activists from Tadipatri were arrested and shifted to the Anantapur central prison in connection with the violence. Sources said few more leaders are likely to be arrested.
