Eight ministers take charge amidst chanting of Vedas by priests at AP Secretariat
Vijayawada: Eight ministers took charge and occupied their chairs at the AP Secretariat amid the chanting of Vedas by priests on Thursday.
Talking to the media later, Water resources minister Nimmala Ramanaidu slammed the YSRC government for ignoring the Polavaram irrigation project and vowed to release a white paper on the “negligence and corruption” involved in the execution of the project.
The minister also vowed to take up desiltation of irrigation canals and drains and undertake repair to the locks for the rainy season to avoid any trouble for crop cultivation by farmers.
Minister for medium, small and micro enterprises, Kondapalli Srinivas, said he would come up with a road map for providing employment to the youths with support from the NRIs and helpin Dwcra women to become entrepreneurs with support from the industries sector.
BC welfare minister S. Savitha assumed charge by appending her first signature on a file to provide free coaching for DSC to students from BC Study Circles and to unemployed youths. She said the government would continue the NTR Videshi Vidya Scheme which helped 2,173 students to pursue higher education abroad during 2014-19.
Industries minister T.G. Bharath promised efforts to develop AP’s industrial sector on lines similar to Gujarat and vowed to set up a Gift City in AP, as in Gujarat. He wanted to create a conducive atmosphere in the state to attract investors in a big way and keep AP in the first place in the ‘Ease of Doing Business.’
Labour minister Vasamsetti Subhash appended his first signature on a file meant to change the name of the YSR Bheema Pathakam to Chandranna Bheema Pathakam. He flayed the previous YSRC government for ignoring the welfare of the workers and alleged diversion of Rs 3,000 crore collected in the form of cess to the labour department.
Revenue minister Anagani Satyaprasad promised efforts to make the revenue department an ideal one and resolve the problems of farmers in the land survey. A special academy would be set up to train the revenue staff members.
Endowments minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy promised efforts to safeguard the sanctity of the temples and protect every cent of the temple lands. He appended his first signature on a file to enhance the amount to Rs 10,000 from Rs 5,000 being given to priests under ‘Dhoopa Deepa Nivedyam’ scheme.
Tourism and culture minister Kandula Durgesh appended his first signature on a file for purchase of 10 tourism boats at a cost of Rs 2.31 crore. He said AP was having 976km of coastline and “we would develop tourism in a big way” in addition to developing important places as tourism centres.
“We would promote temple tourism and adventure tourism. There will be efforts to develop film studios and other infrastructure to promote the film industry and to make films with support from the Telugu film industry,” he said.
